Focus the mind, calm the body

Welcome. I’m Kathleen MacLeod, a mindfulness and meditation teacher who is passionate about helping adolescents and adults foster greater focus, calm, resilience and joy. Starting with practices that strengthen attention, students learn to cultivate qualities and skills that lead to enhanced presence, kindness, compassion and emotional balance.

LIFE is challenging mindfulness helps

Teens and adults are stressed out, busy and distracted. They are constantly connected on technology, yet disconnected from each other, the present moment and themselves. It’s no surprise that the U.S. Surgeon General identified both youth and parent mental health as public health crises.

Mindfulness techniques can empower us to respond to stress, difficult emotions and negative thoughts with wisdom rather than react impulsively. Several decades of research demonstrate the many benefits:

    • Increased happiness and well being

    • Decreased stress, anxiety and depression

    • Improved relationships

    • Enhanced immune function

    • Decreased blood pressure

    • Decreased chronic pain

    • Improved sleep

    • Strengthened attention

    • Enhanced memory

    • Increased creativity and productivity

Customized programs that empower individuals

I offer a variety of ways to teach and bring mindfulness into spaces that engage adults and teens such as schools, community health centers, and nonprofits. Typically, I teach groups in weekly classes or in workshops. Classes and workshops can include a combination of guided meditation, mindful movement, journaling and breathwork.

My approach is supported by science, years of education and my personal practice. I lead every session with a playful, kind attitude, and a dynamic, flexible style that is accessible to all.

Together, we will create a program that is tailored to your community’s unique interests, opportunities, and challenges.

MinDfulness can change your life

I’m Kathleen and I‘m so glad you are here. I have extensive training and I am passionate about practicing and teaching mindfulness because I have experienced the amazing benefits first-hand.

This practice came into my life about a decade ago, when my three children were young. At the time, my behavior was sometimes reactive and I couldn’t always manage situations as clearly or calmly as I wanted, for both my family and myself. I decided to explore mindfulness and meditation because of the compelling science around the psychological, physical and cognitive benefits.

The effects were incredible and transformed my life! I am more calm, focused, less reactive, more patient, and kind. These life-changing benefits compel me to share these practices with my community, especially with adolescents, parents and caregivers who are suffering from high levels of stress, anxiety and depression.
